OLD BOYS CONTINUE TO MAKE THE NEWS.
SBU NGWANE – CLASS OF 2003.
Sbu matriculated from DHS in 2003 and in 2004 he registered at UCT and in 2007 he graduated with a BBusSc (honours) in Financing & Accounting.
In 2008 Sbu did a post graduate diploma in accounting and in January 2009, Sbu started as the Audit Supervisor for Ernest & Young and in December 2011 he became the Assistant Manager – Assurance Service.
In September 2012, Sbu started at McKinsey & Company as Senior Management Consultant and in 2014 he joined Discovery Limited in Johannesburg where he filled the role as Chief of Staff to the Co-Founder of Discovery Limited.
It did not take Sbu long to climb the corporate ladder at Discovery and in January 2020 he became the Senior Vice President: Insurance Markets (Japan) and later that year in September, Sbu held the position as Global Markets Executive – Asia Pacific
During his time at Discovery Limited, Sbu graduated with a Master of Science – MS – Financial Management from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot – Watt University and this year Sbu received a certificate in Alternative Investments from Harvard Business School.
Sbu has most recently been appointed Group Chief Strategy Officer at Old Mutual Limited.
At school, Sbu was awarded academic colours and played for the 2nd XI and 1st soccer team. His biggest honour was in 2003 when he kept goal the 1st XI in the first ever soccer match that was played on Van Heerden’s.
Sbu enjoys virtually all sports and enjoys writing music and spending time with family. When I’m not travelling (which is rare) I turn out for Randburg Cricket Club.
